Current Thread: Depositing problems Message 0 littlebit 2/9/2007 2:48:20 PM Depositing problems
When the Patriot Act was passed, pages of laws were written into it and most of Congress and Senate didn't really bother to read the fine print. Those who did seemed to shrug , as did the American public, and gave approval because after all, "we aren't the terrorists".
Ding dong. The very laws being used by the DOJ to micromanage our bank accounts, our internet activity, etc. are a direct result of watchdog programs that were put into the Patriot Act. Even more laws were slipped in a few months ago when it was renewed. There are some truly frightening new add ons concerning federal prosecutors.
No, we might not be the terrorists, but it's mostly decent American citizens now being governed by these barely noticed laws. The tools were in place to stop money transfers before the first gambling related arrests were made.
Casinos and money processors aren't going to risk jail over laws we allowed to be passed . They aren't going to "stand up" to the U.S. government. We need to get over that part of it. The "standing up" has to begin at the end of our own legs.
You have to wonder, though, if there is anyone left who will truly listen to what a legal , average American has to say.

You are exactly right, ****, and these payment processors, not being US citizens, have no vested interest in "doing the right thing" by depositors. Their thinking has to be, "It's illegal, US players don't want to get caught, we can use that to our advantage". DON'T USE PAYMENT PROCESSORS, PERIOD. They will take our money from the offshore casinos, because that is legal. So whatever we win that goes to them, in their opinion, belongs to them legally. That's why the dirty buggers didn't close our accounts when HR4954 was signed into law. At that time, they should have "done the right thing" and refused to allow US players to deposit their money. OK now they're not taking any NEW US players, but continue to allow existing players to send them money. You know why? Cuz they're gonna KEEP EVERY PENNY. Because now they can say, "We're sorry, it would be ILLEGAL for us to release the funds to you that you WON engaging in an ILLEGAL activity." DON'T SEND THEM ANY MORE MONEY.

***, casinos that didn't immediately dump U.S. players are working like crazy to find a payment processing method that won't be blocked for U.S. players as soon as they get signed up.
If this action of monitoring money processing by the DOJ was a true and honest attempt at protecting the citizens, I would be the first to give up gambling. However, the blind eye they turn to other types of money transfers proves that to not be the case.
In a report last month, they were very proud to announce the taxpayer subsidized wire program being used by "immigrants"--legal or illegal-- helped send a total $28 billion dollars to Mexico. When it leaves the U.S. soil, nobody knows who picks it up in Mexico. Law endorcement from all over the country , the FBI, and other security based offices warned our government this was putting us in extreme danger of increasing drug cartel use of our banking system and terrorists moving into Mexico to easily move money.
A huge push by Americans to either stop the unrestricted wiring of money out of this country by millions of immigrants or give Americans the same right might be the way this craziness can be stopped.
We'll never get anything changed with "gambling" as the cause. Yep--national security could be the rallying cry. LOL. Osama Bin Laden could go to Mexico and wait for billions to be wired into his evil little hands. .
We American citizens didn't fly planes into the Twin Towers, and I'm personally sick to death of seeing us punished as though we were the terrorists.

I'm with you on that one Trish. It is so frustrating to me that thousands of our troops are killed while we ram our idea of democracy down the throats of the people of Iraq who don't want it. We are there to fight for their freedom and meanwhile back home we are losing ours. The problem is that the politicians listen to the people with money and votes. That means there is nothing the offshore casinos can say or do to make a difference.
Unfortunately we are in a situation where we can gripe all we want, but until we get some national attention on this, nothing is going to change. I can't smoke where I want or gamble where I want but hey, I can still go to the street corner and buy meth from my neighbor's lab and then go surf the web for porn.
God Bless America

Yep you are absolutely right! Please see the quote from the article I found re: Antigua vs. the US in John's recent post. Note that Mexico is one of the countries who "reserved" the right to participate in the WTO panel. Gee, I wonder why....and Franny, I'm with you all the way...if I thought for a second that the US presence in Iraq was going to protect our "national security" I would support it 100%. But it is all about power, money, oil and votes. I'm tired of the US sacrificing our children on the altar of war for their own evil political agendas, while our children spill their blood on foreign soil and our rights here are taken away one by one, and sometimes 3 and 4 at a time! It's NOT just about gambling, it's SO much more! National attention, I fear, is not enough...International outrage is what is needed here, not on gamblng laws, but on the methodical, tyrranical removal of human rights by the actions of the US political machine.

Hi all,
As a non-US citizen who is heavily involved in attempting to provide a legally viable "mechanism" to support the continuance of online gaming (by US citizens) and simultaneously safeguard the payment of "winnings" to them (from offshore gaming Sites - I feel that it is a little unkind, albeit perfectly understandable, that all of us "payment processors" are being labelled as uncaring, money grabbing, dishonest "buggers".
Some of us really do share the common opinion of Members of this Forum that the anti-gaming legislation is grossly unfair and, in my opinion, is also probably unconstitutional.
Yes, I freely admit that I am taking FULL FISCAL ADVANTAGE of this glaringly short-sighted piece of US legistlation but then, with the greatest possible respect, I am also of the firm opinion that it is this very type of "free enterprise" activity that is under severe threat from "the powers that be" in the US.

Ken - nothing wrong with being entreprenurial - however, taking advantage or scamming is wrong.
I totally agree - free enterprise may be seeing it's last days. You should post your information so that we could preview it. |
